Our next chapter in the sports management genre is in the realm of Football (or soccer, for our fans in the USA).

You can expect the same, familiar, defining features from Blackout Rugby, like the 3D match engine, the interactive grounds, the extensive and detailed tactic screens, and much more.

We have a very passionate football fan leading the development of our match simulation engine, and we’re excited to show it to you.

Just like Rugby, Blackout Football will reward a deep understanding of the sport, providing deep and detailed skills and attributes for your team. Which lineup will you run? What tactics will you choose?

Changing a player’s name will cost your club 99 tokens, while setting a nickname will cost 49 tokens.

Premium Subscribers will receive one free rename and nickname change each season.

How do I Change Names or Nicknames?

Just head over to your squad screen, navigate to the player you want to customize, and click the pencil icon next to their name.

We hope you get some fun out of customizing your squad! We’re looking forward to seeing the creative names you come up with, and the inevitable references to real-life Rugby players.

Now you can see your beloved team in-game! Kicking conversions, scoring tries, and making legendary plays.

Just the Beginning

We’d like to emphasize the ‘experimental’ detail in this post, as this mode is still in the early stages of production. There are a limited amount of animations, so things might look a bit static for the moment, but we’re only just getting started with this function.

What you see is very, very far from the final product, as we’ve got some exciting developments underway, including motion capture, and some big surprises down the road. Think of this mode as an insight into the future of the match view, as opposed to the final product. We hope you stick with us as we develop the Match 3D engine further, along with the rest of Blackout Rugby.

How do I turn on Experimental Mode?

The Experimental Mode is available in the 3D match viewer. To active it, simply enter a match and toggle the ‘experimental’ switch below the scoreboard. This mode is optional, so you can keep using the existing match viewer if you prefer.

Broadcast Building

We very much appreciate those of you who choose to support Blackout Rugby by spending money in-game, however, we realise that this isn’t an option for everyone! We wanted to provide a way for all players to be able to gain extra rewards in the form of cards, club cash, and tokens. The solution to this is the Broadcast building where you are rewarded for watching ads. You can improve/customise the rewards you receive by spending points in the tech tree.

Friends List

Next of our social features is the ability to search for a club or user to add as a friend. Now you can keep track of your most worthy opponents, and stay in touch with anyone who’s taken you up on our existing referral programme. This version doesn’t include any features that tie in with the friends system, as the blocked list intentionally does not affect the Unions or any competition type. Later versions will add the ability to talk with one or more of your friends, currently only available for users in the same union as you.

Tutorial

The tutorial has been a problem area in the past so we have done a massive refactor on the underlying tutorial system making it a much more stable and consistent experience for new users.

Feedback system

We’ve created a new way to send us feedback, good or bad. You can find this button on any screen in the game on the sidebar menu. We enjoy getting all kinds of feedback so don’t be scared to use it. Whether you’re wanting to let us know you’re enjoying the game or if you are unhappy with something and want to let us know, don’t hesitate to use this new feature. If you want to report a bug that system is still there(and there’s a handy link to it from this new system).
